The Early Life of Shardul Thakur

1) Thakur used to travel 90 km daily from his Palghar home to Mumbai to practice cricket, which is why he is known as 'Palghar Express' in his vicinity.

2) In 2006, he hit six sixes in an over while playing for his school team i.e. Swami Vivekananda School in the Harris Shield School Cricket Tournament.

3) Thereafter, Shardul Thakur was noticed by Dinesh Lad, the head coach of “SVIS”, who decided to train him under his guidance. So he convinced Shardul's parents to take him to their home, and then he began to hone his skills under Lad.

4) He was dropped from the Under-19 Mumbai team in 2010 due to being overweight. At that time his weight was about 83 kg. Even Sachin Tendulkar once told him to lose weight if he is sincere towards playing cricket.

5) Then, after a below-average performance in his first Ranji season, he made a great comeback the next season after losing around 13 kgs.

Indian pacer Shardul Thakur started a new life in his life by getting engaged to his girlfriend Mithali Parulkar in Mumbai on Monday, 29 November.

Meanwhile, according to a report, it has also been told that Shardul Thakur will also attend BKC with 75 guests with the help of Mumbai Cricket Association. Also, it has also been reported that Thakur's marriage to Mithali Parulkar is likely to happen after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 which will be held in Australia.

Cricket Career of Shardul Thakur

  • On 9 November 2012, he made his first-class debut for Mumbai vs Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy. He took one wicket while bowling in 23 overs in the match.
  • In the 2013–14 season of the Ranji Trophy, Shardul took 27 wickets at an economy of 3.80 in the six matches he played in the tournament. He was the highest wicket-taker of the season along with R Vinay Kumar.
  • In the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy, he took 41 wickets in the tournament. Also, his 8/115 in the final against Saurashtra propelled his team to win the season title.
  • On 27 February 2014, he made his List-A debut against Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at Rajkot. He took two wickets for 59 runs in his ten overs. Also, on 24 March 2015, Thakur made his T20I debut against the same team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Pune, in which he managed to bag a wicket.

The International Career of Shardul Thakur

Thakur was named in the squad for India's 2016 tour of the West Indies, but did not get a chance to play in the series. Later, on 31 August 2017, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI of the series. He took one wicket for 26 runs in the match at an economy of 3.71.

On February 21, 2018, Shardul made his T20I debut against South Africa at Centurion, where he managed to get the wicket of Hendricks.

In the same year, he made his Test debut against West Indies in Hyderabad. His Test debut lasted just ten balls as he suffered a groin injury and missed the rest of the series. However, he made a comeback in the Test against Australia in 2021.

IPL Career of Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur made his first IPL appearance for Kings XI Punjab in the 2015 season as they bought him for INR 2 million. He played just one game for them and was later released by him.

  1. Playing for his school in the Harris Shield Trophy 2006, Thakur hit 6 sixes in an over and became the third cricketer to do so.
  2. In the 2012–13 Ranji season, he took 27 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 26.25, including one five-wicket haul.
  3. Thakur took 48 wickets in ten matches of the 2013–14 Ranji season. His 5 five-wicket hauls in the tournament helped him finish the season with an average of 20.81.
  4. Then, Rising Pune Supergiants signed him for the 2017 IPL season. He took 12 wickets in the season at an economy of 8.25. Shardul was signed by Chennai Super Kings for the next season and has been playing for CSK continuously since then.
